Since 1986, the Society has contributed to a charity chosen by the year’s Gold Medal recipient.  Through this process, the Society has presented many thousands of dollars to Pennsylvania charities.  In addition, from time to time, under extraordinary circumstances, the Society has contributed separately to various other charities. The Pennsylvania Society also honors individuals and organizations of Pennsylvania through its Distinguished Citizen of the Commonwealth award and with special citations of individuals as well as organizations.
