Position:  Membership and Programs Coordinator (Part-Time)

 

About the Organization:  The Pennsylvania Society is a non-profit organization that provides fellowship for members who share a deep affection for Pennsylvania, pride in giving back to the Commonwealth, and a commitment to civil engagement.  Founded in 1899, The Pennsylvania Society is the oldest organization of its kind in the country.

 

About the Job:  The Pennsylvania Society is seeking a Membership and Programs Coordinator who can serve remotely in a part-time capacity (20 hours per week) with travel four to six times per year.

 

Reports to:  Executive Director

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Strategic planning for membership growth at a rate consistent with the goals and objectives of the organization

  • Understanding and positively articulating benefits of membership in a professional way

  • Serving as an additional point of contact for member inquiries and ensuring timely and effective responses

  • Planning and onsite management of membership events in Pennsylvania, New York City, and Washington DC

  • Assisting with annual scholarship program facilitation including attendance at virtual committee meetings, school outreach, judge recruitment, and submission collection via online interview software

  • Facilitating and enhancing social media outreach

  • Other job-related duties assigned by Executive Director

 

Minimum Educational and Job Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Professional, Customer Service, or Membership Organization Work-Related Experience

 

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills to effectively and professionally engage with diverse groups of people in one-on-one and group settings

  • Self-motivated and proactive with strong organizational and time management abilities

  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams to achieve membership growth and retention goals

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Ability and willingness to travel in or to Pennsylvania, New York, and Washington DC including some overnight stays during four to six events throughout the year

 

Location and Hours of Work:

  • Position is mostly remote with travel requirements to onsite events four to six times per year

  • Pennsylvania-based preferred, but not required

  • Part-time hours (20 hours per week) are flexible within organization's basic work week hours (Monday through Friday; 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)

 

Compensation and Benefits for Part-Time Role:

  • Initial compensation, ranging from $45,000 to $55,000 on an annualized basis, dependent upon credentials, skills, and experience

  • Business-related, including travel, expenses covered if prior approval

  • Not eligible for organization's paid holidays and vacation/personal days

  • Not eligible for organization's health, disability, and retirement benefits
